Windows Messenger Voice Conversation Problem

J

James Flesher

I have a client that is experiencing the following issue with
Microsoft Messenger;

Three machines running windows XP with all the latest service packs
and patches are running Instant Messenger 5.0. The senario is
Computer A and Computer B can successfully start and carry on a voice
conversation with one another. However Computer B and Computer C can
start a voice conversation and Computer B is able to hear Computer C
but Computer C is not able to hear Computer B. The microphone
indicator leads you to believe that Messenger is transmitting the
voice from Computer B but the speaker indicator on Computer C does not
move. Both of these machines can utilize the microphone and play
sound independently. Has anyone run accross this problem before? If
so what is the resolution?

Sincerely,

James Flesher

Greetings James,

Try this -- on Computer C, try turning off the QoS Packet Scheduler. To do so, click Start,
then All Programs, Accessories, Communications, Network Connections. Then right click the
network/internet connection, then click Properties. Uncheck the QoS Packet Scheduler, then
reboot and try again.

Computer B might also benefit from this being turned off (if its on).
