Hi. I've just installed Windows Messenger 5.0 to a WinXP SP1 computer.
It had MSN Messenger 6.0 installed previously, but I have deinstalled
it and reinstalled WinMsgr 5.0.
The problem is still that WinMsgr 5.0 won't start. When I click it in
the start menu, the process msmsgs.exe appears for a moment, but then
it disappears again and nothing happens.
The computer has previously had a local policy which restricts it from
running Windows Messenger. I have overridden that one using a Group
Policy (AD), and at this particular computer, I have also changed the
local policy to "Inactive". Where in the registry can I check that
this has been applied?
Where do I start troubleshooting the startup issue?
Thanx! /Anders
