Windows Messenger 5.0, no longer allows "send to mobile device?"

Rob

Just installed Windows Messenger 5.0 on my XP Pro
machine. MSN messenger is NOT installed.

Version 4.7 would allow me to send quick messages to
contacts "mobile devices" and now 5.0 does not. Is this
by design? Do I now have to "enable" this service, or
has it been removed?

TIA,
Rob

Greetings Rob,

This feature is no longer present in Windows Messenger 5 (along with other MSN features like
Hotmail, Profiles, etc.), it has been moved to MSN Messenger.

If you want these features back, without using MSN Messenger instead, you'll need to go back
to Windows Messenger 4.7. To downgrade back to Windows Messenger 4.7, click Start, then Run,
type (or copy/paste) the following:
msiexec.exe /x {ABEB838C-A1A7-4C5D-B7E1-8B4314B10138}
and then click OK.

Then, you can reinstall Windows Messenger 4.7 from here:

After installing Windows Messenger 4.7, you'll need the MSN Add-In (Add-Ins are not supported
in Windows Messenger 5):
