I have read the threads on the windows pop up posted and tried all the
suggestions and nothing works. Every time I open windows mail the dial up
pop up box comes up and keeps my wireless connection from getting or sending
email. I have turned off the modem nothing works. Can I re-install this?

In Windows Mail go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account,
click on Properties, Connection. You have a choice of not selecting
a connection, in which case WM will use the connection used by IE,
or you can specify your broadband connection.

Tools | Accounts
Do this for every account:
Select the account and click Properties.
On the Connection tab uncheck "Always connect to this account using:".

Tried to do this, but when Connection tab is clicked, windows mail stops
responding. I get the blue ring and not responding message. So it must be
unhappy. Any ideas?

I am having the same problem. Windows Mail has become useless because it
can't connect. When I hit "send/receive," the "dial-up connection" window
appears. There is nothing in the drop-down window of that box. The "connect"
button does nothing. The "settings" button takes me to the "Internet
properties" window. There, the "dial-up and virtual private network settings"
area is blank, and "never dial a connection" is selected but grayed out. Upon
clicking "setup," a window appears, telling me I already am connected to the
Internet.

What can be done to fix this terrible problem? Help!!!

I fixed it. After reading about 10 suggested solutions, one of them worked:
open a new account in Windows Mail, make sure it is working, and then delete
the old account. Fast, easy.

I have Cricket wireless and when I try to send an email from Windows Live, I
repeatedlyget the message that I need to logon with username and password ;
which I do, but the box reappears and NEVER connects.
Isn't there an easier way to connect? The directions are vague and not
helpful.
Thanks,
Loretta

When you get that prompt for username and password, click Cancel.
That should produce an error message. Right-click on your error message,
copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.
