2 Dial-up Connections - Problem

C

CWLee

I have Vista Ultimate, 64 bit, and am using Windows Mail.

For nearly a year I have used a dial-up connection without a
problem. I'll call that connection and account #1. I have
just added another dial-up connection and account, with a
different ISP, and I'll call it #2.

The problem is that in Windows Mail, when connected with,
for example, dial-up #1, and I hit send/receive, sometimes
it tries to check for email, or send email to dial-up #2.
Same thing when I'm connected with dial-up #2, it will try
to check for email, or send email to dial-up #1.

How do I ensure that Windows Mail uses only the dial-up
connection that is in use when it checks for new mail or
sends email?

Thanks.

Hi, ensure that your accounts are not set to 'always connect using', remove
the checkmark and WM will use any available connection.
Tools>Accounts>select account>properties>connections.

The other settings that might effect this are at WM>tools>options>connection
tab>'ask before switching connection', and on the Change button that takes
you to the IE connections settings.

Thanks, "mac". I think your first suggestion solved the
problem. However, I discovered another factor that might
help others in similar circumstances.

In the compose email window, since I set up a second account
and dialup, there is a space above the TO: space that
indicates which account the new email will be designated to
be sent from. If I am using account and dialup #1, and the
space above the TO: space reads account and dialup #2, then
I have problems. Now that I understand that, and how to
change that space from #1 to #2 and back as needed,
everything seems to work well.

Thanks again for your assistance.
