Windows Live One Care

Has anybody used this program, and does it work satisfactorily? At the
moment I am using a Norton firewall, an AVG virusscanner and an AVG
Anti-Spyware program.
These programs work OK, but slow down the start up considerably, which I
have tested starting up my PC with and without these progams.

Several comments:

1. I know very little about Windows Live One Care and can't comment on it

2. I would personally stay far away from any Norton products

3. A single anti-spyware product is not enough to protect you. None is good
enough and you need at least two. Note what Eric Howes, who has done
extensive testing on Anti-Spyware products, states:

"No single anti-spyware scanner removes everything. Even the best-performing
anti-spyware scanner in these tests missed fully one quarter of the
"critical" files and Registry entries" See
http://spywarewarrior.com/asw-test-guide.htm

4. My personal choices of security software (all free) are

Avast Anti-virus
Zone Alarm Firewall
Spyware Blaster
Spybot Search and Destroy
Adaware
Windows Defender

5. My personal view is that the attention many people pay to how long it
takes to boot is unwarranted. Assuming that the computer's speed is
otherwise satisfactory, it may not be worth worrying about. Most people
start their computers once a day or even less frequently. In the overall
scheme of things, even a few minutes to start up isn't very important.
Personally I power on my computer when I get up in the morning, then go get
my coffee. When I come back, it's done booting. I don't know how long it
took to boot and I don't care.

I have used OneCare since it was beta....I am very happy with its
performance and the continual auto update and informing me of such
activities via bubble messages.
One of the best benefits is that the Customer Service Group is very very
good. I have had help both via email and phone assistance. The help you get
is cordial, precise, and effective. The latter is very important to me. I
have some attractive apps installed but their CS is not good, at least, not
as good as OneCare. HKost
