windows license checking

Whenever I try to logon to my XP pro machine, it tells me
that 'A problem is preventing Windows from accurately
checking the license for this computer. Error code:
0x80004005.' I've tried logging on as different users on
different domains and get pretty much the same thing. Any
suggestions?

should have read before i posted. gonna try those
suggestions, but please leave any others you may think
