| Foolish scarcasm, me? No.
|
| Maybe if Microsoft would make a robust system that doesn't DOZE off, then
| people would not call them M$ and Windows, WinDOZE. Maybe if the Microsoft
| employees would not be insulted at what they call "foolish scarcasm" then
| people would gain more respect for them! So far no Microsoft employee has
| ever given me a satisfactory solution to any problem I've had with any one
| of their products. All my solutions have either come from persistent trial
| and error or other frustrated Microsoft customers that have previously
| solved the same problems. For the sake of our rather obviously easily
| insulted patriotic Microsoft employee (or wannabe employee) I will rephrase
| my question.
|
| Problem: I have Win XP Home. I tried uninstalling a piece of software and I
| get "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if
| you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not
| correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." I am
| NOT running Windows in safe mode.
| I tried installing a certain piece of software which claims that Windows
| Installer is not installed. I tried downloading from the MS Downloads site a
| version of Windows Installer that I thought was for my system, and then
| several others, however the response was the same - not compatible to my OS.
| I tried rebooting my computer, but nothing helps. I have constantly
| downloaded the updates from Windows Update, and have no more to download -
| no changes.
|
| I need the Windows Installer to work - what do I have to do???
|
| Pickles.
