Hi All,

Till a few days ago all was well. I tried installing a piece of software
which said that my Windows Installer ain't working. I tried downloading
something from M$ website, but no help - not made for my OS. I have Win XP
Home. I tried uninstalling a piece of software and I get "The Windows
Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running
Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly
installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." I am not running
Windows in safe mode.

Please! Somebody who can help give me an answer! Please! ASAP!

Thanks,
Pickles.

There is a "Microsoft Windows Update" website, but there is
not a "M$ website". Please clarify what you wish to accomplish.

M$ stands for Microsoft!!! I went to Windows Update and it doesn't detect
that I need any updates. I already tried downloading a version of Windows
Installer from the M$ website which didn't work, it said wrong OS, but above
the download it said XP!!!

It is rather obvious from my post that what I want to do is install &
uninstall software without glitches, that means have Windoze Installer
working!!!

M$ does not stand for Microsoft and Windoze is not Windows.
Please rephrase your question and skip the foolish sarcasm.

Foolish scarcasm, me? No.

Maybe if Microsoft would make a robust system that doesn't DOZE off, then
people would not call them M$ and Windows, WinDOZE. Maybe if the Microsoft
employees would not be insulted at what they call "foolish scarcasm" then
people would gain more respect for them! So far no Microsoft employee has
ever given me a satisfactory solution to any problem I've had with any one
of their products. All my solutions have either come from persistent trial
and error or other frustrated Microsoft customers that have previously
solved the same problems. For the sake of our rather obviously easily
insulted patriotic Microsoft employee (or wannabe employee) I will rephrase
my question.

Problem: I have Win XP Home. I tried uninstalling a piece of software and I
get "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if
you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not
correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." I am
NOT running Windows in safe mode.
I tried installing a certain piece of software which claims that Windows
Installer is not installed. I tried downloading from the MS Downloads site a
version of Windows Installer that I thought was for my system, and then
several others, however the response was the same - not compatible to my OS.
I tried rebooting my computer, but nothing helps. I have constantly
downloaded the updates from Windows Update, and have no more to download -
no changes.

I need the Windows Installer to work - what do I have to do???

Pickles.
