Windows Installer pops up

The Window Installer box pops up intermittantly. Stays on 30 seconds and then
repeats from anywhere from 2 to 5 times. No message in box except installing.
If I cancel it still takes 30 seconds to end. This occurs anytime, on line or
just sitting there. Tried downloading the repair program but got error
message on opening. Blew it away. Any suggestions, thanks.

Hi Harry,

Which application is it trying to repair/reinstall?

Ramesh, I have no idea what program is trying to install. All the message
states is "preparing to install". I've tried reading the Event Log but really
have no idea where that's located. Not being computer literate doesn't help.
I've read what you printed, Winhelponline, and it must be written in Sanskrit
(Not being derogatory just don't understand what you are saying). Does
Microsoft have a utility program to repair registry items?

JS, going to read what you told me to look at to see if it makes any sense.
Thanks to both of you fine people.

It looks like I may have had registry problems. I downloaded "Free Window
Registry Repair" from Windows Catalog and scanned my registry. Only had 2751
problems. Selected repair and so far I don't have my original pop-up problem.
I will have to see if I can still use my 'puter.
