Windows Installer Pops UP Everytime I open My Network Places

Windows XP Pro Service pk 2

Everytime I open My Network Places, the Windows Installer pops up requesting
my Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 disc.

With the (MOPE2003) disc out - I can cancel installation but must do it
twice. Then I can browse "My Network Places" without any additional
interruption.

With the (MOPE2003) disc in - The Windows Installer pops up briefly and is
closed after automatically accessing disc. Then I can browse "My Network
Places" without any additional interruption.

I can open My Documents, My Computer, and Office 2003 apps without the
Windows Installer poping up. It is only when I open "My Network Places."

If I try to access "My Network Places" via a program such as Word, Excel,
etc. the Windows Installer will pop there as well.

Should I try the Windows Installer CleanUP Utility for this or should I try
something else first?

Thanks for you help.

Thanks for responding Ramesh.

I have tried opening 'setup.exe' via the Microsoft Office Prof. Ed. 2003
(authentic original) disc. However, I get the following messege.

"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

I get the same message when I try to repair from "Add or Remove Programs."
The message comes up when I click "Change"

I hope this is informative.

Thanks again for your assistance.

Hi RicDar,

See if this helps:

You receive the "This patch package could not be opened" error message in an
Office program:

Two questions:

1) any other odd things happening with the computer?
2) Is this a multi-boot computer... do you have additional bootable
partitions installed on the hard drive and perhaps use a boot manager
to boot them?

Regards,
Tim
