Windows Installer is acting up

M

I have this problem where the windows installer keeps opening up
whenever I open any of my programs for instance, my browser. You know,
the one that involves a "preparing to install" but will not install
anything problems? Now, I find out what the installer is trying to
install and it ends up being Microsoft Office Edition 2003, and so, I
try to uninstall it but in the uninstalling process, I get an error
saying:
"Verify that the patch package exist and
that you can access it, or contact application vendor to
verify that this is a valid windows installer patch
package."
Something like that
and I do not understand what it is about.
I am sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I run Windows XP Home Edition, please help me out on this.

Run the windows installed clean up utility and remove the reference to
MS Office.
