Windows Firewall/ICS error msg

When I try to enable the Windows Firewall I get a message that reads "Windows
Firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not
running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection
sharing Service?".

I click "yes" here and then I get another window that reads "Windows cannot
start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing service" and then I
click OK in the little window.

I am running on Windows XP SP2 and I have McAfee Virus Scan installed on my
PC with no other firewall protection. Does anyone have any ideas or
suggestions. Your help is much appreciated.

I took your advice and looked in the Event Viewer and found a msg that
pointed me to a page on Microsoft's site that dealt with these issues. I was
told there to delete a Security Key from the Shared Access key in my Regisrty
and then to restart my computer. I did that and still no results. I get the
exact same error.

Here is what my Event Viewer msg reads as:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7023
Date: 8/13/2006
Time: 4:20:24 PM
User: N/A
Computer: MIKESPC
Description:
The Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service terminated
with the following error:
An address incompatible with the requested protocol was used.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I'll continue looking but as of now still no success.

Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it!!
