Windows Explorer not updating on CD/DVD change

G

Guest

After booting up and inserting a CD into the drive, Window Explorer displays
the correct directory/File information for the disk. If the disk is then
ejected and a different disk inserted, Windows Explorer does not update. It
still displays the information of the 1st disk. Even if Windows explorer is
exited and restarted it still shows the info of the original disk.

The only way to have it recognize the new CD/DVD is to reboot the system

The operation system is SP Professional.

Any ideas on how to fix the problem.

Thanks

Microsoft's Autoplay repair wizard _might_ fix this problem. See this post
from Alex Nichol, MVP.

It may be a fouled up autoplay setting, so that the autoinsert
notification is being lost. Microsoft people have written an unofficial
fix up tool for Autoplay. Without great confidence, I suggest you try
it - it is not on a MSoft site, but can be downloaded from

I've had the same problem for months. I've tried every fix I could find
including running autofix.exe with no luck. I finally did what may be
obvious to others - I went into System, Device Manager, hardware, clicked on
the CD device - a pioneer drive and right clicked disable, rebooted, same
procedure only chose "enable" and rebooted again. All fixed !
