Windows and CD/DVD misbehaviours

N

Neil

Three problems:

1) If I put CD's or DVD's that should autorun in my CD/DVD reader, they
don't. I'm sure I have all the settings right. What else can I check?

2) For some while, sometimes when I put a CD or DVD in, the volume label is
still shown by Windows Explorer for some hours or even days after the disk
has been ejected from the drive, and other disks put in instead.

3 ) Just this past week, I'm not getting *any* display of the volume
ID/label when I put media in either my CD/DVD reader, or my DVD writer!
They are recognised normaly on another system.

Am running XP Pro. Can anyone advise how I can address these problems
please?

thanks
Neil

Have same problem with dvd in both XP and ME.
Dvd software:inter video Windvd outdated
Lord of the rings etc. not recognized. My solution:
1) load old DUNE dvd which is always recognized, eject,
2) then load Beautiful Mind which will only then be
recognized, eject
3) then Lord of the rings will be recognized
May be density of dvd recording, dust in the box, conflict
with real player/windows media player being assigned dvd
format??? Painful but it works.

This isn't with DVD videos, I'm talking about DVD or CD data-discs.
Sorry for any ambiguity.
