Windows Explorer / My Computer Problem

Whenever I click on My Computer or Windows Explorer, it used to show the
links to my C, D and E drive.
Now, a flashlight appears and in the status bar, it says searching for
items, but it either never finds my drives, or it takes 10 minutes.
But I can enter c:\ into the run box and it displays it straight away.

What settings have changed?
How can I fix this problem?

Hi,
I do have a third party Cable modem. Before installing Windows XP2, things
were working fine. After installing SP2, though, when I click on the My
Computer icon, the search flashlight appears and it takes 10 to 15 mintues
before the files show up.

Even starting Internet Explorer takes more than 10 to 15 minutes.

Copying any file from the cmd prompt also takes too long.

Unplugging the Cable modem (as suggested in the bulletin) will not help me.

Any other suggestions. BTW I have scanned multiple times to remove Spyware,
Adware files. I have also updated to the latest Norton Anti-virus.

Thanks
Sudhakar
