Windows Explorer crashes

I've been trying to copy some files to a CD-RW in windows explorer. When I
attempt to create a new folder on the CD, Explorer crashes (blue screen,
memory dump, etc.). I've done this in the past, but the problem just started
in the last month or so. I occasionally also get a message if I am in
explorer (not trying to burn CD) that Explorer is not responding and shuts
down.

Running XP Home edition and all the appropriate spyware, virus protection,
etc.

any ideas?

Hi your antivirus client may be causing the issue. Disconnect any internet
and network connectivity, then disable your antivrus scanner temporarily to
test that you can now use Windows Explorer with no issues while in your case
creating a new folder on a CD. There are fixes available for Windows Explorer
issues when encountered due to antivirus scanners. The reason all seems to
run ok for a while and then suddenly changes is that antivurus dat files and
engines are updated often, and a recent change to this client (in the last
month or so) may have caused the problem.
