Windows Explore left pane does not display

Running Windows 2000 Professional with SP 3

Its not a profile issue; I logged on with my account, same
problem.

Long story short -- When Explorer is open, by start menu
or right clicking and selecting Explore, I get a gray box
with not content on the left pane. Right pane view is ok
with no apparent issues.

Any ideas?

A damaged installation of Internet Explorer can cause this. Take a look at
