middle pane in Windows Explorer

On my W2K Windows Explorer is set to how three panes:
1. the left one shows all the disks available
2. the rightone shows the content of a disk/folder which is selected in the
left pane
3. The middle one shows the size and free space of a disk selected in the
left pane, or a thumbnale of a file if a graphic file is selected in the
left pane

On my XP Windows Explorer I have the right and the left pane only - how do I
set it to show the middle pane as above?

Does selecting View, Status Bar in Windows Explorer provide what you
want?

Not exactly what you want but select, Tools, Folder Options, View,
Advanced Settings, Display file size information in folder tip.

Hope this helps.

On the General tab of Folder Options do you have Use Windows Classic
folders selected?

The Advanced Settings appears over the second drop down menu on the
View. The first is Folder Views.

I suspect you are not going to be able to match what you were used to
with Windows 2000.

Yes, but it is under TASKS heading and I do not know what it means. Anyway
after I checked this nothing changed

My use of the term drop down menu may have mislead. When you select the
View tab within the window is an area or box with a scroll bar to the
right. Over the area or box are the words Advanced Settings. Select
"Display file size information in folder tip" from the list in the box.
