Windows Disk Cleanup Utility not responding

I have an IBM ThinkPad with Windows XP. The disk cleanup
utility does not respond. I have followed the steps in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 823302 but the
problem persists. Any help would be appreciated.

If its hanging at the Compress Old Files routine, this is not unusual. It takes a long time to scan all your files to see what is considered "old".
