I have this version and wonder why I am being asked to update and directed to
a page offering to download WD Beta 2 which I have????

What is "I have this version" WD version and or Engine version and or
Definition version?

Check in the Help About to check the 3 version.

Maybe you need version 1347.

My fault. Earlier I could not find a "help about" function but now I see it
and see that I am on 1.1.1051 for WD itself.

So, if I go back to that site,
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/default.mspx
and download WD Beta 2 it will update my base version?
