Big progress! :)
Now Full Scan forgot about my sendfile.exe file. It choused another
file.
Dear WD authors, please remove this bug. It seems that the bug is in
your "heuristic" algorithm, not in file names.

(Full system scan)
Start time: 12:47 PM
Time elapsed: 01:03:00
Objects scanned: 298552
Object: C:\Program Files\Drag'n Drop CD\BinFiles\DragDrop.exe

Stop Scan --> Windows Defender encountered an error: 0x800705b4. This
operation returned because the timeout period expired.

Hello KP,

Just out of interest. What version of Windows are you using? Is this a
Windows Vista Beta 2?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375

By using a beta YOU are helping debug the program. YOU decided to do this
when you loaded it on your system! If you no longer want to work with the
beta program, please remove it from your computer. All of these problems
"are" seen by the development team. Keep posting your problems. The squeaky
wheel gets the oil.

System properties:
Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
Manufactured and supported by: Fujitsu PC Corporation

It was factory preinstalled on my Lifebook E7110 laptop. Fully patched.

I'm receiving 0x800705b4 error almost every time I run WD full scan.

It's just a bug report. I would appreciate it greatly if you could fix
this bug. I have no other problems with WD.

One more question: If you open Windows Defender, and go to Help,
about--what is the top version number displayed?

If it includes 1051, I'd recommend doing a new download of Windows
Defender--go to www.microsoft.com, click "more downloads" and click on
Windows Defender. Just install over what you have in place.

Bill, I have latest version.

Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1347.0
Engine Version: 1.1.1481.0
Definition Version: 1.14.1518.10

WD is working very good on my PC. I mean that I have no problems with
installation/uninstallation, no problems with updating, no problems with
checkpoints, etc... By the way, I uninstalled and reinstalled WD
yesterday. I got the same WD. So, the installation over MSAS has been
performed correctly. I have only one very strange problem with it --
full and custom scan options doesn't work on my PC.

Today scans:

1) Safe mode (F8) WD full scan:

Start time: 9:13 PM
Time elapsed: 01:01:35
Object scanned: 370474

OK. No problems.

2) Normal mode. WD full scan:

Start time: 10:48 PM
Time elapsed: 01:02:19
Object scanned: 369450
Object: C:\Documents and Settings\Me\My Documents\...my directory
name...\keywords.txt

Windows Defender encountered an error: 0x800705b4. .....

keywords.txt is my own small text file, created with notepad.

Thanks--that's clear. In the history of this beta, one thing that we've
seen is that these cryptic error messages get reduced in frequency over time
as the developers narrow down the possible causes and either fix the issues
or create more usable messages to cover the remaining cases of failure.

So--assuming that your filesystem is in good shape (chkdsk?)--I don't have
further ideas about the cause of this scan failure--thanks for the detailed
report.
