I have windows 2000, trying to install windows defender, i get this message
"No sufficient privileges to start system services" help please?

I have the same problem with Windows 2000 Pro SP4 with all critical updates
installed and the reqisite dll installed in System32. I get Event ID 11920,
as you report, and Event ID 7023 regarding an un-named file. I receive no
response from my queries to Microsoft. Hope you hear something here.

i got far enough to know that error code is 1920 [which is part of the ID
that you got] but there is no fixing instructions. frustrating!

I don't have a specific fix for this error. I have seen a post stating that
going to Windows Update and applying all offered critical patches after an
express scan, eliminated the error. I don't have further reports of success
from others trying this--I'd certainly recommend it, though.

Perhaps you didn't read my message: I HAVE ALL CRITICAL PATCHES INSTALLED!
It looks like Microsoft doesn't care whether Windows 2000 users install
Defender or not.

Sorry for missing that. I'm quite sure that Microsoft wants this product
installed as broadly as possible, but this specific issue is one that I
don't have an answer for at the moment, I'm afraid.

Hello dnilepharaoh,

I don't know if this helps anyone, but this is a tough problem to fix, it
seems.

Type "net start windefend" in the command prompt

After then, check for Updates, can you gº to Windows Update, select Express
(Get high-priority updates), and apply all offered updªtes
http://update.microsoft.com

Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs? There are many
pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and signature update
with windows defender will fail until you hªve these f!les.

Execute a quick scan,

Engle,
You seem to be stuck on "everything can be solved by windows update".
Read the posts! we are all updated but this still keeps happening. If yopu
have any other advice besides "go to windows update and express install" we
would all like to hear it because what you have been spewing is not a fix.
