Windows Defender Installation Problems

Hi,

I have tried to install Windows Defender on my computer, but could not
even pass the installation due to an error. I get the following error:

Error 1609. An error occurred while applying security settings. Users
in not a valid user or group. Etc.

I had not installed the previous version of this programme by the way,
so that could not have been the problem. After analysing the error, I
thought of the most obvious solution and that was to create a user
called Users and try again. This DID work and the installation could
complete. After that I removed Users from my computer without any
effect whatsoever on Windows Defender.

I am almost sure that I got into this problems because I am using a
non-English XP version (I use the Dutch version), thus the group Users
would exist on a English XP version, but apparently its Dutch
equivalent is not being recognised. A bit bizarre, but perhaps somebody
could give me a more thorough explanation.

Hi Remy,

I've exactly the same problem that you had, only i have a French
Windows version instead of a Dutch one. Would you please be so kind to
explain how to create a user or a group thats calles "Users"? This
might be a stupid question for you, but i'm not that well experienced
like you probably.

I really hope that you can help me out.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Ricard,

I am not quite familiar with the French version of Windows, but you
have to go to your configuration panel and to the place where you do
user management. Usually the icon, in XP, are symbolised by 2 puppets.
There you can create a new user with the name Users.

That's it.
