I'm not able to install Windows Defender Beta.
During install I get always error 1609.
I'm logged in as administrator.
How can this be solved?
Thanks in advance,
Geert Geerits

Uninstall any current antispyware program you
have installed first.

I've installed/run it on the office PC's and just uninstalled MS - ASW.
It seems to "Work-Well /w Others", no issues noted with AdAware,
Spybot and a few others. Like the fact they've cleaned up the "Temp"
file creation and better Service mapping. No remnants of Giant in this
version. Seems a little sleeker/streamlined. For my setups, just required
removing Firewall rules for the old MS - ASW components.

I have got the same error, because it complains about a group called
Users that does not exist. That for sure could be the case, since I
have the Dutch version and not the English. Could it be possible that
you cannot install this English BETA version on a non-English version
of XP? It sure seems like it.

Geert,

I've got it working by creating a new user called Users and running the
installation. After that you can remove Users.

Windows Defender is up and running here without any problems so far.

Chances are that's why your PC is still working.
