"windows could not load the installer for BTW"

N

nl

My PC appreaed to suffer a corrupt registry earlier this week and I
had to run a repair install, which is still not 100% effective. For
one thing .com files like Edit don't work, but that's a minor glitch
(although I'm always worried the minor glitches mask much bigger
nastier ones).

The one that is really bugging me at the moment is the error message
in the header. It means I cannot get a Bluetooth install to work,
even though I have deleted Widcomm and Logitech drivers several times
and rebooted and started from scratch.

I'm using a Logitech BT mini-receiver on a Windows Media Centre SP2.
The mini-receiver is not picked up as a new device even unplugged and
replugged, and there is no Bluetooth entry in Device Manager.

All help appreciated.

Corrupted registries are the number one reason of reformatted hard
drives. I've worked on hundreds of machines with corrupted
registries and honestly, the only way to fix them is to copy your
vital data off and reformat... Why? your system will NEVER be 100%
again. Sorry, it just isn't designed to heal itself... it would be
super cool if it could...

but if that isn't an option, you could try to 'Add Hardware"....

Tried that, no joy - the error message appears every time it comes to
the BT dongle in the scan.

I had a sneaking feeling that the best option would be a re-format and
re-install, hence the posting just after this one. Thanks for your
help.

Must remember to unplug my external drives this time... so my local
disk doesn't end up as 'F:'...
