Windows Backup - error (0x8007041D)

Hello everyone!

I keep getting a dialoge box (daily) telling me:

An error occurred when checking the status of the last automatic
backup:

The service did not respond to the start or control request in a
timely fashion. (0x8007041D)

Verify the status of your backup.

"OK, how do I verify the status of my last backup? When I close this
dialogue box I am immediatley met by another telling me:"

The backup application could not start due to an internal error:

The service did not respond to the start or control request in a
timely fashion. (0x8007041D)

Please check your system configuration and try again.

"How do I check my system configuration? And try what again?"

I am lost as to what this means. I have googled the erorr code and it
seems a lot to do with updates etc. I would appreciate some info
regarding this issue. It is linked (according to the title bar on the
dialogue box) with Windows Backip. I have automatic backup scheduled
weekly and have a partition on my hard drive that I use to save the
backup on.

Any ideas?

If you can send me the following information, I can investigate this
further.

1. A description of the problem, including the exact error message and error
code (a screenshot will work)
2. A screenshot of your Disk Management screen showing disks and volumes.
3. Contents of %windir%\logs\windowsbackup\
4. Generate a log file using the instructions below and email it to me:

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Asr,
create a new key called LogFileSetting

Under LogFileSetting, create a new DWORD value called EnableLogging.
Right-click that value, click Modify, and then enter 00000001 (hexadecimal)
or 1 (decimal)

Under LogFileSetting, create a new String value called LogPathName.
Right-click that value, click Modify, and then enter C:\asr.log.

Next, reproduce the error. You should have a file called asr.log under c:\.
You can delete the registry key when you are done.

Use my email address, minus "online."
