Hi,
I have been using windows 2000 professional as my workstation for web
development? If I were to migrate to Windows 2003, what would be my choice
as far as workstation goes? (main concern is IIS 5 vs IIS 6.)
Cheers

No workstation operating system provides IIS 6.0, it is exclusive to Windows
Server 2003. You have to decide whether it is worth your money, or if you
will only be developing on Windows Server 2003, then you may be interested
in an MSDN subscription

I see, would XP 64 bit provide IIS 6.0? Further, does Microsoft have any
plan to release some workstation OS with IIS 6.0? (I am just curious)

Hi Marc,

I understand that "Windows Server 2003 products are server based"; however,
my scenario is this when I develop web applications I use workstation IIS
which is windows 2000 professional IIS 5.0. Then when I deploy in production
I use Windows 2000 server. Now, if I were to use windows 2003 server for
production deployment, which provides IIS 6.0, I obviously want to develop
using IIS 6.0 as well. Am I right? So which workstation OS provides IIS 6.0?

Cheers

XP 64? 2002 probably wouldn't; 2003 _might_ (don't quote me on it)

To my knowledge, there will be no workstation OS with IIS 6.0 on it, or any
"upgrade" to 6.0 for XP. Then again, that's just speculation, as I don't
work for Microsoft.

Hi,

The Windows Server 2003 products are all server based operating systems.
All include IIS 6.

I've loaded IIS 6 on Windows XP Pro.
Use Add/Remove programs and click Windows Components.
