Window Views

Rodney Chelius

I am trying to set my window views from 'FOLDER VIEW'
(with folders and the directory structure on the left),
to 'XP VIEW' (with system tasks, other places, details on
the left). How can I set this view system wide? Thank you.

When you are in "Folder Options" in the control panel

select "Show common tasks in folders" then select the View tab.

Then click "Apply to All Folders" then click "Apply"

Good luck

I did as you instructed, but the folders still open with
the folder structure on the left instead of the system
task (XP). Any other suggestions? Thank you.

Rodney,

Open My Computer window.
Click Tools, Folder Options, then click File Types.
From the list, locate the entry FOLDER with extension of (NONE).
Click Advanced, select Open, then Set Default.
Click OK and close the dialog.

All open with SYSTEM TASKS, OTHER PLACES, DETAILS, on the
left side, XP Style, EXCEPT Windows Explorer. How can I
set Windows Explorer to open the same way? Thank you.

Rod,

Windows Explorer opens that way, because it uses the "/e" parameter for explorer.
Set Windows Explorer startup folder:
