Windows XP Home + SP1 + all updates except SP2
IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2 ...
admin account plus 3 user accounts
In _one_ of the user accounts (only):
1) every time IE is started msiexec.exe runs
2) a small window comes up titled "Windows Installer"
3) then a small window titled "MicroSoft Money 2002"
4) then an error message window that says "error 1706,
no valid source could be found for product".
In addition to when IE is started, this error occurs
_every time_ the user is using IE and clicks a link that
opens up another IE window.
I believe that MS Money 2002 was bundled with this HP PC
at time of purchase and that some files were probably deleted
at some point, but I can't see a difference in the user accounts.
On the MS IE support page, a search for "error 1706 money"
says to edit the registry for Installer, etc. I did that
and now, only on that one account, in addition to the above
it now says to load the MS Money 2002 CD. Which doesn't exist
because it was bundled.
Any ideas?
