Win98se v Win2000 pro ..help please

Terry

Win98SE
End user...no networking
BT broadband
512mb ram
60 gig H/D

Considering upgrading to Win 2000 pro, but reading this NG I see many posts
related to "Workstations", "Networking".
A little confused as to win 2000 pro is used primarily for the above 2 (
"..", "..".)
As I use just internet via ADSL, is this OS version for me?
I will have to U/G OS at some stage so I am going thro' the assment stages
before deciding.
XP appear unuser friendly at present!...hence Win 2000 pro.
It may be I just need Win 2000 (not pro), if there is such an option.?

Regards

Terry

Assuming your hardware is up to it. You'll have no problem with either.
Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional/ Windows XP Home. Just
don't do an upgrade, take the time to clean install.

Its not that Windows 2000 is primarily used for networking.
You can use it for home computing as well. It is one of the most
stable OS.

XP is windows 2000 pro with more colours and all decorations.

There are three versions of windows 2k:
Windows 2000 Pro
Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Advanced Server

There is no such *win 2000* only.
