I had to reinstall win2000 to a new system HD which
previously was always readable by another win2000 and XP
computer in the network. Now when I try to access the new
system I always have to go back to the My Network
Places/Computers Near Me and then select the new computer
and give the user name and password. Then I can access
the drives in it. It use to be automatically available
when it came on line by both the other win2000 and XP
system. The XP system in the network and is always
available to both computers after it logs-in.

I went to the other win2000 system and tried the Map
Network Drive in My Computer and I can not access the new
system.

Where is this mysterious setting that will open the new
win2000 up for access?

Thanks

Make sure you log on with the same account and the same
password on each system. If you have automatic logons,
don't assume that they use the account / password that
you expect. They most likely don't.

.
Do you mean "Workgroup" as the account? If so they are
all on Workgroup.

The new win2000 and the XP use the same User name and
password but the second win2000 uses "user" with a blank
password.

You must use the same User Name and password on each PC.
