Win XP stalls during compatibility check

I have a Toshiba 2800 2805-S202 laptop that has all the
system requirements needed to upgrade from Win ME to Win
XP Pro. But everytime I try to run the compatibility
check, it stalls and never creates a report.

I have tried every step recommended in tech articles
316639, 305883, and 318008 and downloaded the Win Upgrade
Advisor software to my hard drive and ran from there.
Nothing works! HELP!

Chris;
Most likely something on the computer is not compatible with windows
XP.
Disconnect all peripherals (printer, scanner, camera etc)
Remove cards (sound, modem NIC etc)
Uninstall antivirus, spyblocking software, download accelerators etc.
Then try Upgrade Advisor.
