win xp home and win98

When i go to network neighborhood on my win98 i can see
my winxp home laptop....however when i goto winxp home
laptop i cannot see win98 machine thru network places.
from the laptop i can ping the static ip address of win98
machine but again it does not appear in network places.
My firewall is turned off on winxp home and win98 has
none. WIn98 has shared folder and printer and can be
seen by other win98 computers on the network...any
ideas???? please help!

Please pay particular attention to these sections:

1. Firewalls: Permanently disable XP's built-in Internet Connection
Firewall on local area network connections -- it's for use only on a
direct modem connection to the Internet. Disable and un-install all
other firewalls while troubleshooting.

2. Protocols: Use only one for File and Printer Sharing. If the
network needs more than one protocol, unbind File and Printer Sharing
from all but one of them.

3. NetBIOS over TCP/IP: Make sure that it's enabled on all computers.
