why won't my r-t protection activate?

i am using microsoft antispy, it tells me that my real
time protection is inactive, so i click on one of the
agents. it says all checkpoints are being monitored, yet
in the "xxxx Agent Status"box on the top left side, it's
listed as inactive.

I'm highly frustrated, I've been working on it for 3
hours and even did a system restore.

WTF happened?

Thnak you.

Try these two solutiºns:

1) do an update install--control panel, add or remove
programs, Microsoft Antispyware, change, updªte.

Then, try these steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> type in ->
command)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without
the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpywªre

You can go ahead and do both of these--neither has any
downside risk--and see if that does the job. Let us know
whether it does, or nºt!

Sometimes, you have to try 2 o 3 times with MSAS, in
order to stick the selection, try.

I have tried both suggestions, with no success.

If I open MSAS the real-time protection on the summary tab
show active, but the moment you click to another time it
changes to inactive.

I have since discovered w32.Netcky.z on my computer, I
dont know if this has infected MSAS. Ihave run the repair
tool but it does not find anything.

I believe this will work. It's better to try the earlier steps first,
because they are simpler, and have fewer risk:

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) delete \program files\microsoft antispyware and all subfolders. You will
lose access to any Quarantined items, personalized settings and history
records.
3) reinstall Microsoft Antispyware

I haven't been able to find a reference for the virus you noted--it'd be
excellent to get that cleaned up first. There are viruses which
specifically disable Microsoft Antispyware, but the one you've posted isn't
one I'm familiar with, and I think that it isn't likely to be the source of
the problem.
