Which Windowsversin should I get?

The probleme is that Win2000 supports this controller but only in 16bit mode,
if u add a 32bit card u get an error.

"The device Texas instruments PCI-1130 CardBus Controller" has detected a
CardBus card in its slot, but the firmware on this system is not configured
to allow the CardBus controller to be run in CardBus mode. The operating
system will currently accept only 16-bit (R2) pc-cards on this controller."

As I have found out this is due to an error in win2000 that Microsoft has
never fixed. They know about it but has never provided a soloution.

So my probleme here is : Which version should I then get that can run on my
laptop and will support this controller? My laptop is IBM Thinkpad 760XL,
P166Mhz MMX 64Mb ram, 4Gb hdd.
Can I get a clear answer if Win2003 will support this controller? And if it
will run on my laptop?

Hope to hear from someone soon:)

With kind regards

Jan

Doubtful about Windows Server 2003 but get in touch with the hardware
manufacturer to find out what operating systems they support.

Hello Dave, thnx for the quick response. IBM stopped doing support on this
laptop a long time ago. The probleme here is not the pc:) its windows lack of
32bit support for alot of controllers and thereby a microsoft probleme. ts
been a long time since this probleme was first discovered and no soloution
has been offered since.

So if u like me has bought the Windows 2000 the ur stuck with a product u
can't use fully.

Therefore I ask here if Win2003 will support this controller in 32bit mode
or if I should look at another verson? And then which version?

Microsoft doesn't make the drivers. The hardware manufacturers do. If the
hardware is supported by Microsoft then the driver may be included on the
operating system install CD-Rom.

These pages may help you.

As far as 2003 support I don't think your laptop meets the minimum
requirement.
