Firmware problem?

When I tried to install a Belkin HSM Wireless G Notebook Network Card to my
Compaq Presario 712EA Notebook’s PC card slot I got a pop up message at the
bottom of my screen:

The device "Texas Instruments PCI-1410 CardBus Controller" has detected a
CardBus card in its slot, but the firmware on this system is not configured
to allow the CardBus controller to run in CardBus mode. The operating system
will currently accept only 16-bit and not 32-bit…

Can anyone help?

Check your notebook manual. You may find that if it is an older notebook,
that's all it allows and there is no way to change it.

You may need to contact Compaq customer support for your laptop..
Also, check for any possible updates you may have missed..
