W2k WMP9 closes itself when playing streaming video

Jeff

I am running Window 2k and Wmp9 (with all latest service
packs installed through Windows Update).

If I play MPEG video files on my hard drive, WMP9 plays
the videos correctly; however, when I stream video from a
web site, WMP9 closes itself immediately and does not
display an error message.

I uninstalled WMP9 and used WMP7 and everything worked
fine. Upon reinstalling WMP9, I have the same problem.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks,
J

Is it only MPEG files from the net that are problems, or do other video
types on the net cause problems?

Well, yeah, the

link I mentioned would help with that. :)

It should be a driver conflict. If it happens with audio-only files too,
then it's probably not a video/networking conflict, but either a problem
with networking or networking mixed with audio.

and/or

would probably be fair starting points.
