W2K Server hanging - 'cannot find free connection'

Up until 3 weeks ago my W2K server was very reliable. Now,
for no apparent reason it hangs ever other day or so. It
is totally unresponsive and can only be rebooted. The
event logs always show multiple 'Cannot find free
connection X times in the last 60 seconds' (Srv Error Id
2022).

I cannot find an answer to this problem - can anyone
suggest anything?
