Volume Control Problem

For several months now I have no sound whenever I start my computer, Windows
XP Home with Service Pack 2. The slider which is in the tray at lower right
is always at the lowest. When I drag it up I hear sound, but it always slides
back to the bottom on its own and there is no sound. Sometimes after surfing
the internet for awhile or trying to play some music files the slider will
stay up and I will have sound until I turn off the machine. Next start there
is no sound again. Lately it seems to take longer for the computer to be on
before I can get any sound. I have reinstalled the sound drivers to no avail
as the sound works it is just that something is moving the volume slider
down. this is very frustrating. Help me please.

Try going to Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices>Volume>Advanced. Raise
the Volume slider there.

Thanks Rich, Yeah I tried that but no dice. Actually, after I posted I
searched the archives and found someone else had the same problem. The answer
turned out to be volume control buttons on the keyboard that were stuck. Glad
to have found this forum. Danney
