VoIP via Linksys WRT54GS port

Bottom line: are the wired ports on the Linksys WRT54GS router encrypted the
same as the wireless "connections?"

I'm trying to connect my Linksys / Vonage Phone Adapter to one of the ports
on the router but am having difficulty with getting a dial tone. Yes, I had
the service activated and am able to access the Voice Response Menu and
verify the Mac address & other DHCP settings.

I also went to the Linksys router website utility and accessed my network to
configure the port forwarding. But I soon wrapped myself around the axle and
may have made it more complicated than it already is -- instructions on Page
1 made it sound like I only had to hook it up and start dialing.

I also bypassed the router and tried connecting the phone adapter directly
to the cable modem but still no joy.

Perhaps I need to do a reset on everything and start all over with my router
& laptop in the "clear" until I can get the VoIP phone working.

Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, wired connections are NOT encrypted using WPA/WEP/etc. If the VoIP
device won't work when connected directly to your broadband connection I
would suspect it's either configured improperly or defective.
