Why did you ever change from XP. I just bought a new computer with Vista on
it & can't stand it. I can't use my software, printer or get into some of my
old files on accoount of Vista. I have bought an XP OEM & am reinstalling
that back on my computer...or actually I have to have a computer store do it
because Circuit City messed up new computer so I am taking it to
Professionals that know what they are doing. They said they need to slow
down the drive when they put XP back on because Vista runds reals fast & it
could mess my computer up...if CC didn't already. What was Microsoft
thinking? Even the guys at the store said they have been so busy fixing
computers because of Vista issiues. I cant stand it. Go back to Classic
Coke if you know what I mean.

There are many reasons why Windows Vista was developed.
The number one reason: Major security enhancements to prevent
malware from infecting and slowing down your computer.

Ok, Then let me ask you Frank and all the other people with continuous
problems with the wonderful Vista and the discussion platform they have here
because they cannot figure out the problems themselfs. They know they need
help. Some people out there might actually help them with some of the
problems Vista is sending out. That is why this platform was created. Vista
has major problems...just look how many people are having problems...this
Discussion page proofs it. I know I'm not alone. XP was fine so my horse &
cart are doing Great thank you very much.

Your choice, of course. I like it.

I can't use my software,

Some older software won't run on Vista. Most will if you usec ompatibility
mode. Personally, *all* of my software, except for two or small minor
utilities , runs just fine on Vista.

That's a common problem, but don't blame it on Vista. Whenever you try to
use an older printer on *any* new operating system, you run the risk the
printer manufacturer hasn't yet provided drivers for it. But did you check
the printer manufacturer's web site to see if there was a driver you could
download.?

or get into some of my
old files on accoount of Vista.

Nonsense. Certainly Vista didn't keep you out of your old files. My guess is
that your old computer had the needed applications for those files
installed, and you simply haven't installed thoose applications under Vista.
Blame that on yourself, not Vista.

Slow down the drive? That is complete nonsense, and anyone who told you that
is a rank amateur, not a professional.

Sorry, Carey, but I don't buy that for a minute. The major reason is that,
like every other company, Microsoft can't stay in business unless it has a
new product to sell.

Vista is what it is, rather than something else, because it contains those
major security enhancements. But that's not *why* it was developed.
