"VISTA" SYSTEM RESTORE

I have had my Vist Machine since thr middle of February. System restore works
every great once in a while. I used to use it with out any problems on XP but
it has NEVER worked properly on VISTA. I even took my computer back to
Circuit City where I purchased it and they could not get it to work so they
gave me a NEW computer. AND, it has the same problem. I called Microsoft and
they told me to reinstall Vista...which I did and still have the same
problem. Microsoft said " Oh well, I don't know what to tell you, maybe there
will be a fix for it in the future. After spending $1500.00 on a new computer
I am so fed up with Vista and Microsoft and their don't give a crap attitude
I could spit!!! My opinion of both is all they want to do is make XP obsolete
so they can sell a slower more unstable operating system to boost their sales
and to he** with the public.

Askew - lot of ranting and raving - but short on details. Explain "...it has
NEVER worked properly on VISTA....". Symptoms. Messages, Lack of
functions???

Regarding "...System restore works every great once in a while. I used to
use it with out any problems on XP...". Implies frequent or routine use of
System Restore. What problems have you been having with XP and Vista
requiring use of System Restore?

As Peter in this thread asks, are you dual booting Vista with XP. If yes,
each time you boot to XP your restore points are wiped out. Also, if you
are using any system cleanup utilities, they can wipe out restore points as
well. As others have mentioned, some antivirus apps can be problematic with
System Restore.

THANK YOU for your help! I do run Symantic Norton Anti Virus. Do you have any
suggestions as to how to set it to work around this problem or another anti
virus program which may work better?

Thanks for responding. No, I'm not double booting with XP but I have read
that it does wipe out the restore points when switching.

You must work for Microsoft.... The reason I have had to use Restore on
occasion is usually because of Microsoft Updates. And NO I don't use it all
the time but have checked it on several ocassions to make sure it would work
because of the problems I had with my first Vista machine! Yea, your right I
am ranting and raving because of the crap that microsoft is putting out. But,
that had nothing to do with my legitamate question so if you can't be
helpfull then please don't respond. All you did was confirm that your either
a Microsoft employee or think you know more than you do. As others knew the
answer and were very helpful.

Thank You for the info. No, I'm not double Booting with XP but I have read
where it will wipe out your restore points but I am using a Symantec 2007
Anti-Virus which I think may be causing the problem. I will definately check
with them on how to set it to do a restore if needed. Thanks Again! Allan
