Vista Won't Install -- HELP!

I just downloaded the iso file and burned it onto a DVD. When I inserted the
DVD Vista refused to install. It said that "Setup can't determine whether
your version of windows is supported" or something similar to that. Then the
setup program just shuts down. I'm running Windows XP Home w/SP2, 2.8 Ghz
Pentium 4 w/HT technology, 512 MB RAM, and integrated video (yeah, I can't do
the graphics but that doesn't stop the installation does it?). I really want
to try. It works on my laptop, but that is my primary machine with similar
specs (only an ATI Radeon X300 and 1 GB RAM are different). HELP!

One of your problems may be your Ram. With integrated graphics you don't
have 512 MB because your memory is shared between your graphics and your
computer.

Yes, I got a computer from dell with Windows XP pre-installed 2 years ago and
it was activated.

Are you installing through Win XP or are you booting to the DVD? If it
doesn't work one way try the other.

I've tried both. When loading from XP there is the "Please Wait..." screen
where it tells it to me, and the same thing happens in the "Please Wait..."
screen on the boot. I think it can't access my hardware specs for some reason.
