Vista spell check not working

Make sure you are in the window where you would be looking for new mails,
not when you would be composing e-mail.
Tools > options > Spelling > under language, click the pointer and choose a
language OTHER THAN English. Click it and click APPLY. Go right back, click
the pointer and now choose ENGLISH, click Apply, click OK.

I have read several of these texts, but, still have no idea how to get the
spell check to work.
If I wanted to be a programmer I would have taken a masters in computer
science.
I didn't, I chose to spend $2000.00 on a computer and $600.00 on programs
that I expect to do their job without me reconfiguring it.
If you can break down to the most elementary level how to fix spell check,
it would be greatly appreciated. At least until Microsoft figures out we
don't buy there products to have to re-program them.
Thank You

In the main screen of Windows Mail, (not the compose screen), go to
Tools, Options, Spelling.
First select another language, click Apply. Then reselect English and click OK.

If Options does not appear under Tools, then you are in the wrong screen.
Go to the main Windows Mail screen, not the message compose screen.

(Side note: I really don't understand why people are having so much difficulty
finding this.)

Not really.
But Windows Mail was provided with Vista so you would have an email program,
although it has several bugs. Since Vista was released, MSFT replaced
Windows Mail with Windows Live Mail, which may be updated in the future.
Windows Mail will not be updated.
