Vista spell check not working

G

Guest

I too had this issue with the error message "Language is no longer
available for spell checking. Please select another in the spelling
options dialoge".
and changed it to German then did the spell check (it
was written in English) and when I did the spell check it said the spelling
check was complete (indicating it was correct)! So I then changed the spell
check back to "English" and
misspelled words on purpose-it still said your spelling check is complete.
Any
other suggestions?

It doesn't spell check for me until I press the 'send' button. Then the
suggested corrections appear. I like the old way better but don't know if
it's possble with Windows Mail.

options....spelling....choose language other than english...apply...choose
english...apply...then return to your create mail message...type as message

Carla,

I did what you and others suggested: I changed the language to Spanish,
applied, then back to English, and applied. I went back to the email I was
creating, and like you, it didn't tell me intentionlly misspelled words were
misspelled. Here's what I discovered:

Anything I typed after I reset the language and that was below the original
section was spellchecked. Anything I had previously typed was ignored.
Also, I noticed that on new messages it works now.

Hope this helps. It's annoying and buggy, but I'm sure it will be addressed.

I'm new to Vista, but very disappointed with it's proprietary nature. I CAN'T
seem to be able to check spelling, changing from english to french and then
back again is not an option to activate this function (as I've read someone
elses comments)...why can't I simply click on "spell check"?

HELP!

I have tried doing what you suggest, however, when I go to tools it doesn't
give me options. It immediately says Language is no longer available for
spell checking. Please select another spelling option. HMMM I can't get
anywhere? Help

I think that people who continue to have problems are trying to do this
within a message rather than in the main Windows Mail ap as specified in
Judy's instructions. I came here looking for answers after getting the no
language message. I copied my email text, closed the email, applied the fix
and then started with a new email and the pasted text. When I tried the
spellcheck on the new e-mail, it worked perfectly. Thanks so much to the
community for being here to help with these issues. I like Vista and am
willing to work with the early problems. I've been a Mac user for a few
years and switched because of the HOT battery issues and because there are
too many web aps for work that don't work in Safari.

I tried the switching of languages I did German then "apply" Spanish then
"apply" several times - then English "apply" and it worked for me. Thank you
for all the posts, they explained very clearly where to go and what to do.

A great many THANKS to all for the posts.

I used a combination of Judy's solution and that by DjLoHydro who noted the
need to tick "Always check spelling before sending" then Apply, Okay. Now
the SPELL CHECK works when asked to check and also before sending.
Many Thanks for this solution.
