www.oehelp.com/WMUtil did not work for me. The 3 options at the top (that
say close OE to enable) were never enabled. I have not been able to run the
clear outbox, or repair options. Any suggestions?

That sounds remarkably like you didn't bother with the instructions.

Try again but this time read and follow the instructions...
(they were easy to overlook because they were only expanded to 5
or so times the normal text size and only highlit by a red box and
not flashing with bells and whistles)

If Windows Mail is open, or if a current WinMail.exe process is running, the
Database functions are disabled, and the WinMail.exe process must be
terminated before these features can become available. (If WinMail is closed
and these buttons still remain disabled, then perform a CTRL-SHIFT-ESC, and
under Processes find WinMail.exe and click on it, and then click the End
Process button.)

I have the same problem with the same error message, except I now can't send
email, I can receive, but all messages I try to send end up in my out box ,
all can be
deleted other than the one with the error message, this seems to be stopping
all outgoing mail, my service provider has checked all my mail connections,
everything
is ok, any idea's.

Hi,
I have had a problem with the message stuck in my inbox. Check out this link

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/62560-windows-mail-problems.html

It tells you how to fix it depending on where it is. If it is in your outbox
then go to the outbox section etc etc. If it is in your inbox then you have
to go to the reset windows mail section. I followed it and it worked!!!! So
many problems but I had to go through my inbox one by one until I found the
problem one after I backed it up and then I could delete it and then restore
all my other emails back to the way they were.

Hope this helps most of you. I think it will solve these problems.

It doesn't "solve" anything, it just gives you a temporary respite.

Today I had that problem again (message stuck in Outbox folder).
Unfortunately WMTool (which is in fact only GUI port to esentutl.exe) do
not helped. Finally I deleted WindowsMail.MSMessageStore file. While
restarting, Windows Mail automatically recovered it from a backup file
(it must be a recent backup in Backup folder, of course) and the problem
was gone.

Additionally I must say, in Outbox folder was many orphan message files
with 0 byte size. So, there must be some serious problem with WM
database engine...

I think you do not have to get rid of any files except the two
.smessagestore files. The one under the Windows Mail directory and the
one under the Windows Mail\backup\new directory.

I'll do some more tests.

I am totally FRUSTRATED -- I have one email STUCK and the error

Get the location of the Windows Mail datbase folder in Tools |
Options | Advanced tab | Maintenance button | Store Folders button.
Close Windows Mail.

Navigate to that folder via Windows Explorer.
Drill down thru the subfolders to find the Outbox folder.

Delete everything in there or move it elsewhere.

Now restart Windows Mail and see if things are working correctly.

I had that error before and this is NOT a problem with any Windows
Mail folder, but with corrupt database file
%Userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows
Mail\WindowsMail.MSMessageStore. Microsoft tools cannot repir it. The
only way i know to repair it is exporting all email from the store
and removing this file and it's backup copy from Backup folder, or
maybe the whole Windows Mail folder.

Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090
It also works on other folders.

Steve thanks so much for this invaluable piece of assistance! After two very
frustrating days trying everything under the sun to no avail, this little
programme sorted the problem out in a flash!
