i have had this windows vista installed for 3 days now and have found that it
is very unstable i spend 18 hrs a day on this pc surfin net and exploring
files on pc and have found that just a simple task of changing web page or
opening a document causes my system to crash memory dump restart if it starts
ok as sometimes it will just hang when restarting. on average my pc will
crash at least 50 times in 1 day have even tried reinstallin vista several
times and even formatted hard drive and installed again but same problem
keeps happening even with out any additional software or drivers why is this.
turn pc on attempt to go on internet and it crashes why? and windows help is
not any use it just says this will be fixed in a future edition but how does
that help me now how long do we have to wait?

This sounds like a serious driver problem. Have you tried troubleshooting
for that and have you filed a bug report?

The Java 1.5.0_7 and maybe all Java 5 versions problem with IE7 is a known
bug. It does work with Java 6 Beta.

If there is a "known bug" in Java 1.5.0.7, then
why did it install on my Vista x86 system and
works fine with I.E. 7. I opted for the web
install and it works just fine!

So, where is the information about this "known
bug" in it?

It's all over this news group. Search for it. Many different people
including me have found that this is a problem

I didn't do the web install, maybe that is a work around.

I used the download from the Sun site and install.

If you mean where has Microsoft published this as a bug, they don't do that.

I think most of the problem is actually with
Vista and the hardware it is installed on. I
can't get the nVidia video drivers to install on
my system with a FX 5500 but others report they
have no problems. I also get an error when
trying to install the RealTek (non HD) sound
drivers listed on the RealTek site as being for
Vista. The file name has 'Beta1' in it, so is
that Beta1 for the drivers or Beta1 for Vista?
