Vista Beta2 XBOX360 MCE Extender issues

Hello.

Just got Beta 2 of Vista installed last night, and I'm fairly happy with it
so far. I did a clean install, as I got weird setup errors when trying to
upgrade from MCE2005 (Setup.exe terminated unexpectedly etc. when doing a
hardware scan).

However, there's a "slight" issue. When I try to set up my XBOX360 as an MCE
extender from within Media Center, it goes fine until the Xbox tries to
actually launch its part of the setup. I get a message about "the DVD not
having the correct region code". I suspect the launcher bits that are
downloaded from Vista (C:\Windows\ehome\MCX\X02\XboxMCX-V.XEX) are
hard-region-coded to Region 1. I have a PAL, Region 2 XBOX360 console.

Will Microsoft make a new version of this file available? Preferrably one
that isn't region coded at all - as I can't really see any POINT in making
it region coded...

This is preventing me from testing the MCE bits in Vista Beta 2, which I was
looking very much forward to.

Kind regards,
Henning Pedersen

Does any one know when this region free file will be released? I know I am
not the only one, and I think its a poor effort to only allow a huge part of
Vista (to me anyway..) to the US.

So anyone who has any idea of a release date for this patch, let me know.

Thanks,

Xbox 360 extender support will be released to the rest of the world as soon
as Microsoft thinks it is ready and not a moment sooner. Right now they are
concentrating on the non-regional bugs first before introducing all the
regionalised issues.

Besides, Beta 2 was the FIRST build that allowed us to use the 360 as an
extender at all. It is going to take time to get this feature right. The
next build released to us Technical Testers (5456) which I am running now
does not support the 360 as an extender at all because of various issues
which MS are working on.

So in short, have patience my friend.

OK Thanks, one last question, actually 2.
1. Will it be realeased as a patched file- or will the new beta be required
in full?

2. Where would i find out it has been relased? (ie. where is the best place
to be checking weekly to make sure i dont miss it)

Thanks,
Geoff.
