Virus scans won't pick up virus, help!

Liz

I get this error message numerous times when on my computer, but I'm clueless as to how to rid myself of this virus. I've ran scans with both AVG and the free system scan on the Symantec website, and neither detects it for some reason. This is what the message reads:

Virus
Virus found Startpage

is found in file
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{BBB7DC21-7136-4948-9E56-9960BDBD2331}\RP19\A0001666.hta

To remove this virus, please run AVG for Windows

....any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Create a new System Restore Point *now*. Go to Disk Cleaner. Take the More
Options tab; then on the System Restore panel (the bottom one), click Clean
Up. All the past restore points, except the one you have just created, will
be gone together with the stored data for these points, i.e. the System
Volume Information where the virus is. Click Cancel to exit ( not OK)!

Scan to see that the virus is indeed gone. Then, peruse

Disc cleaner? Do you mean Disc Cleanup? When I click on that I don't get a
more options tab...

I am sorry, Liz. <g>

It is Disk Cleanup. When that is clicked, a small box appears asking you
which drive you want to clean up, C, D, E... and so on, if you have more
than just one single partition, the default C drive. This will be skipped
if there is just C. Then, another small box appears with a progress meter
showing you the computer is collecting the data for cleanup. Then, you get
a larger dialog box with 2 tab pages: [Cleanup] and [More Options]. Click
the latter and you will see [System Restore] at the base.

If you have difficulty, post back.
