Virus? help!

I don't remember downloading anything after being on my computer th
other day but now i can't get past the desktop background. It seems t
load, i click to go on but i get this message-

"The procedure entry point SHCreateThreadRef could not be located i
the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll."

Then all that happens is i can move my mouse around and only get m
desktop background, so i cant even load anti-virus software or scan fo
a virus. Anyone know how i can sort this?

I had a similar message after a possible virus last week..
You can try doing a running in safe mode and then doing a 'last good'
It didn't work for me, neither did a 'repair' work as SP2 machine is later
level than the CD.
I ended up formatting and re-installing.. I wish you better luck..
